Laboratoire Informatique D'Avignon (LIA) LIA is the computing science research laboratory of UAPV and is recognized by the French Research Ministry (EA 931). A total of 25 permanent staff, 15 contract researchers/engineers and 30 PhD? students form 3 research streams in: - Natural Language Processing,
- Networks and Communications, and
- Operational Research.
All enjoy worldwide recognition for scholarly excellence and have a highly successful track record of participation in both national and European collaborative research projects. The Natural Language Processing Research Group, which is responsible for hArtes within LIA, has internationally recognised expertise in speech and speaker recognition, speaker diarization, dialog management and audio information retrieval. In addition to the traditional routes through world leading conference proceedings and journals LIA disseminates its research through the distribution of much of its technology as open-source software. Using this software LIA and several other world leading laboratories have reported world class performance at the NIST-SRE (speaker recognition), NIST-RT (speaker diarization), NIST-TREC (information retrieval, NIST-DUC (automatic summarization) evaluation campaigns among others.
